How to Last

We’re often asked, “How long does a hybrid battery last?” While it seems like a simple question, the honest answer is that we don’t know for sure. Here’s why.

After testing thousands of failed batteries, we’ve observed a wide range of lifespans. Below are some examples based on factory-original batteries from three of the most popular hybrid models:

  • Aqua/Prius C:

    • Average: 120,000 km – 180,000 km

    • Lowest: 90,000 km | Highest: 280,000 km

  • Prius 3rd Gen / Prius Alpha (5-seater):

    • Average: 150,000 km – 250,000 km

    • Lowest: 110,000 km | Highest: 370,000 km

  • Camry (pre-2017):

    • Average: 180,000 km – 300,000 km

    • Lowest: 130,000 km | Highest: 400,000 km

As you can see, there’s no single answer to how long a hybrid battery will last. What we can provide, however, are practical tips to help extend your battery’s lifespan beyond the average. These insights are based on our experience and technical understanding—but don’t just take our word for it. When in doubt, do your own research and make informed decisions.
